ATP! Essential Listening: Ryn Weaver

Indie-pop singer Ryn Weaver may not be well recognized yet but she’ll be a household name in no time.

Weaver, born Aryn Wüthrich, was born and raised in California with her three brothers. Upon completion of high school, Weaver moved to New York City where she studied at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts for two years until she dropped out to move back to California to focus on her music career.


After a surprise run-in at a birthday party, ex-boyfriend Benny Bianco signed Weaver to Interscope Records’ imprint, Friends Keep Secrets (FKS). By the next year, her song “OctaHate” premiered on her SoundCloud page. Her song was instantly promoted on Twitter from popular artists such as Charlie XCX, Hayley Williams of Paramore, and Jessie Ware. In just under two weeks, the song gained 1 million plays.

“OctaHate” would go on to appear on her first major EP, Promises, which received fair recognition from Billboard and Buzzfeed. Excitingly enough, Weaver announced in a Billboard interview that she has completed her first full-length album, which is expected to be released later this year.

Weaver’s music is fun and danceable with catchy lyrics. Self-described as “fairy-pop,” this singer/songwriter has a unique quality to her music that helps to put a defining stamp on her sound. With a fun, airy tone, her songs are the perfect soundtrack to lazy days in the summer, accented by cheeky lyrics that demands the listener’s attention.

Listeners who love Sia, Teenage Dream era Katy Perry, and Cher Lloyd will love Weaver and her fun electronic beats. If Weaver’s upcoming is as energetic and promising as the rest of her work, she’ll undeniably be tackling the top of the charts in no time.
