ATP! 2014: Artist Of The Year - 5 Seconds Of Summer

As far as the music industry goes, three years is not a long time. So the fact that in just those few short years Australian quartet 5 Seconds Of Summer has participated in two world tour, announced their own, and released an album which found itself at No. 1 in 11 different countries is pretty mind boggling. What’s craziest is that this is just the tip of the iceberg for this band.


Starting as a YouTube cover band, the four Aussies garnered viral success, which also brought them the attention of many major music labels and publishers. (They signed a publishing deal with Sony/ ATV Music Publishing in 2012 and announced they’d signed with Capitol Records in 2013.) Since, they’ve released six EPs-- four released just this year-- one studio album and are set to release a live album on December 15.

On top of this, the young pop-rock band also made appearances on several award shows, collected numerous award nominations and won several of them as well.


Long story short, our love for 5SOS is not unfounded, as they certainly earned their way into our hearts, and into our Artist Of The Year spot. We wholeheartedly commend the band for the amount of work they’ve put in to get to where they are, and we’re ridiculously stoked to see just where they’re going to end up by this time next year.
