The album's second-week total will be more than 300,000 copies ahead of the likely No. 2 album, which could be the Now 52 compilation, with maybe 60,000 to 70,000 sold in its own second week. It debuted at No. 2 with 103,000.
1989 debuted on the Billboard 200 chart last week with 1.287 copies sold and has already gone Platinum in Australia and New Zealand as well as Gold in the United Kingdom. The lead single "Shake It Off" went Double Platinum in the US last month.
