I've been craving some good ol' beef brisket for a while. The last and first time I ever had it was when I was on tour a couple of years ago in Texas. My step-dad informed me that in Atlanta, GA there is a bbq place called "Fox Bros. Bar-B-Q" that has great reviews online and they serve brisket. I looked up their website and in the description, it says that they are two brothers from Texas. I then looked up the reviews on Yelp, Urbanspoon, etc and all the reviews were great including a fair amount of people mentioning how awesome the brisket was.
This past weekend, my boyfriend Patrick and I decided to "snap" as we call it, and drive 2 hours up to Atlanta just to eat at Fox Bros and try the brisket!
I can go ahead and tell you that it was DEFINITELY worth the 2 hour drive. The place looked awesome and the smell outside was even better. You could smell the BBQ smoke and that really helped to make me extra hungry!
We had a little bit of wait even for getting there at 3pm (that's a good sign to have a wait in between lunch and dinner!) We sat down and over looked the menu. We knew we needed to try this appetizer called "The Tomminator". I had looked up their menu online on the way up and this thing sounded so ridiculously good we had to try it!
"The Tomminator" is tater tots topped with their brunswick stew and then covered in melty cheese. Holy crap was this tight! The tots were crispy, the brunswick stew was perfect and the melty cheese on top was in abundance. I was definitely happy with this. I put their signature BBQ sauce on top and chowed down! Patrick and I had no problem inhaling all of these very quick.
For my "linner" (lunch/dinner) I of course went with the beef brisket. I ordered their two combo meat plate and just ordered double brisket so I could have a lot more brisket than if I just ordered the single meat plate. I got 2 ounces more brisket so I was stoked! For my sides I got the mac and cheese and baked beans.
The beef brisket was phenomenal. It had everything that you'd see the host Adam Richman of Man Vs Food or Guy Fieri of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives talk about. The brisket was "spongy" like but VERY tender. Your could see an impeccable smoke ring and the rub was excellent. All you had to do was barely pull a piece off and it came off like butter. Such an un-forgettable flavor. I ate it ALL. The mac and cheese was awesome too. They used shells instead of noodles and it was very creamy and cheesy. It almost had a "garlicky" taste to it. So good. The baked beans reminded me of the kind of baked beans that my mom makes so I was very stoked on those as well!
Fox Bros. Bar-B-Q was a definite success for us. Patrick and I ate ourselves silly and ridiculously full. Patrick could barely move when we left, haha It was so worth it!
