ATP! Lists: Six Degrees Of Separation - The Cab

Now, we’re all familiar with the concept that every person in the world is just six steps away from any other person in the world. (Actually, you are probably more familiar with the Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon game in which it is possible to link just about any actor to Bacon through six steps or less.) Either way, Alter The Press thought it would be interesting to take the concept of the six degrees and link all our favorite bands to other musicians out there that that you may not think are very linkable.

First up in this game? The Cab to Nicole Scherzinger. (Note: It was actually quite hard to find an artist that they HAVEN’T met yet.) Kicking things off is none other than...

1) Bruno Mars

The Motown inspired crooner joined forces with The Cab while they were working on their second studio album, Symphony Soldier, and helped the group pen ‘Endlessly.’ The song, which brought together the best of what both Mars and the band have to offer, is so sweet it very well might give you a cavity, but one we’re willing to have. Of course, The Cab isn’t the only group to get some writing help from the stellar Mars, as through him we move on to...

2) Justin Bieber

Canadian pop star Justin Bieber got a little help from Mars on his first single off his debut studio release My World back in 2009. That isn’t the last time the two were a part of the same project, however, as they both provided the soundtrack-- along with Rihanna-- to the 2012 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. Now, where does Bieber take us? Well, from the Biebs we head on to...

3) The Wanted

Not only does the boy band share a manager with Bieber (Scooter Braun, anyone?) but they also got to join him for the last night of his Believe tour at Madison Square Garden. Then they joined him again when they both performed at Z100’s Jingle Ball 2012, which, coincidentally, they helped DeLeon get backstage at. (The guy knows everyone. He also worked with them on some tracks, but that is neither here nor there.) Bieber isn’t the only popular singer this band is close to, which brings us to our next point...

4) Ed Sheeran

Grammy nominated singer, Ed Sheeran, is quite good friends with The Wanted. In fact, he was with the five lads when he discovered that he was up for a Grammy! (And yes, we know, The Cab technically knows him too, and we could have forgone everyone up until this point, but then there would only be two degrees of separation and that wouldn’t be much of a read now would it?) Continuing the strain of Brits connected to our starting point, Sheeran connects us to none other than...

5) One Direction

The ginger haired singer/songwriter is quite close with the internationally famous boy band, what with being good friends with all of them and even writing three tracks off of two of their albums. We know that they also technically know The Cab and that frontman Alexander DeLeon is actually planning on seeing them in Ireland next month, but same rules apply as earlier stated. (It isn’t our fault that they quite literally have met everyone.) How do these five, perfectly quiffed boys, get us to our end goal? WELL...

6) Nicole Scherzinger

Former lead singer of The Pussycat Dolls, now solo artist and judge for The X Factor UK, is the person responsible (or to blame, whichever strikes your fancy) for the creation of One Direction as she was the one who suggested putting the five boys into one group. And now, thanks to them, she can be linked all the way back to one of our favorites, The Cab.
