Working at Taco Bell has its perks. One of which is making items that are not on the menu!
I decided to make an item called a "Crunchwrap". It's on the menu but I of course made it with some sweet differences!
A Crunchwrap starts off with a 12" tortilla. The normal Crunchwrap would have gotten beef and nacho cheese. I decided to put the crispy potatoes (The same potatoes from the cheesy fiesta potatoes, crispy potato soft taco, etc) and nacho cheese. The crispy potatoes are so daggum delicious!!
Next up on the Crunchwrap should have been what they call a "tostada" shell. This is basically just a flat crunch taco shell. Well of course I wanted to jazz it up! So I went with the Doritos Locos Taco Shell. For those of you that don't know what that is, Taco Bell has recently come out with a Taco shell made from the "Nacho Cheese" Doritos chips. (If you have not tried this yet I highly suggest you do! One of my favorite ways to eat it is in what I call a "Cheesy Dorito Crunch"). Now they don't a flat version of this shell so all I did was break it in half and lay it on top of the potatoes and nacho cheese.
The sour cream and lettuce go on next. This is normal with all Crunchwraps. You then fold it up and put it on the grill to grill it to perfection! I added a side of Taco Bells "Lava" sauce from their Volcano menu. The Lava sauce is the spiciest sauce that they have. It's one of my favorites and it also has a "cheesy" flavor to it
Biting into this thing was rad! The first taste that hits your mouth is the potatoes and nacho cheese. You then get the cool sour cream and the crunch of the lettuce and Doritos shell. I was actually surprised that I could taste the Nacho cheese flavor from the Dorito Taco Shell. I thought that with all that other stuff in there it wouldn't be as noticeable but it was!
Let's not forget the Lava sauce that I had on the side. I always add a sauce to my Crucnhwrap whether I go ahead and put it on it or have it on the side. The Lava sauce added some great flavor! I would put a little bit on each bite and this really set it off. There were so many great flavors going on and it ruled.
All-in-all this Crunchwrap was awesome! The original Crunchwrap is still awesome so definitely give it a try as well if you've never had it. If you have had the original and you are looking for something on the wild side, give my creation a try!
