Who doesn't love a good ol' home-cooked steak? To me, a home-cooked steak beats the hell out of any restaurant steak you could ever get!

This past weekend my mom worked hard out in our yard. Patrick (Veara's guitar player) and I noticed how hard she had worked and we decided that we wanted to do something nice for her. We decided to have a steak dinner!

After I got off work I ran into the Publix Grocery Store and picked up all the fixings for the meal. I headed straight to the meat department first. Publix always has really good meats to choose from. They were running a sale on Ribeyes and these things looked so good! They had great marbling throughout without being to fatty. I picked up the Ribeyes and headed onto the other selections. Patrick and I had the idea of doing Redskin Potatoes with Pimientos and a squeezed lemon over top. (We got the idea from a restaurant, haha). I picked up the Redskins, Pimientos, and a good size lemon, paid and headed to the house!

As soon as I got home I got the steaks straight into marinating. I poked holes in the steaks using a fork and then used "French's" Worcestershire Sauce and poured that over them. Next I used a seasoning made by Weber called "Chicago Steak". I ground that up and sprinkled that over top of both sides of the steaks. I also used Garlic salt to for seasoning and I sprinkled that as well over both sides of the steaks. The steaks ended up marinating for a total of about 3 1/2 hours.

Now since I was doing this dinner for my mom I didn't want her to have to do anything but my Mom makes the best potatoes as well as this sauce called "Bernaise". She didn't hesitate when I asked her to help with the potatoes and Bernaise. She's a great cook and was very happy to help! She got the potatoes on the stove to boil and seasoned them with onion powder, parsley, and garlic powder. She brought them to a boil and cooked them till tender and they cooked approximately 40 minutes.

Next she got the Bernaise ready. She cooks this in a small saucepan and adds butter and milk to the mix. She cooks it on medium heat about 3 times till it's a little bit thick. She uses the "Knorr" brand of Bernaise seasoning and doctors it up her own way. This stuff is like crack. I put it on my steak and potatoes. So good!

All we have left to do now is grill these great steaks! I love to grill and in my household I'm the grillin' Queen :)

Our grill at our house is a gas grill so I cook by times and I like to cook the steaks a little slower so that they stay juicy and tender. My Mom likes her steak well done so I put her steak on first. I like mine at a bout a medium so 5 minutes before I flip hers I throw my steak on the grill. Patrick likes his steak rare so when I flip my steak I put his on the grill.

The redskin potatoes turned out great!

The potatoes were very tender and the addition of the pimientos were great! We've never done the pimientos on the potatoes at home but this turned out awesome!

The Bernaise was very creamy and oh so tasty!

If you've never had Bernaise on your steak then you're missing out. Now, I think the steak by itself is delicious in it's own right but try it with Bernaise and you're in a whole new ball-game!!

The steaks turned out great. They were all very juicy and seasoned to perfection. We all used the Bernaise on the steaks and potatoes and boy oh boy were we stuffed! We couldn't stop eating because the flavors of everything were so good. Also, squeezing a lemon over the potatoes was a very nice touch. This was actually Patrick's idea. Great idea Patrick!

I think that we all enjoyed this home-cooked meal very much :) My mom seemed very happy and that in itself made me very happy. I love you mom and I hope you enjoyed your steak!
