Tour Blog: Aficionado (Part Two)
"It's now day 10 of our tour with Tim Kasher. The days feel like they're flying by. We started out in Chicago on the 18th, made our way east to Boston, and now we're down in Greenville, NC. All of the shows have been amazing, a couple of them even sold out. We've become fast friends with Tim & his band, and honestly, we couldn't be more appreciative of how awesome they've been to us.
Yesterday we drove between Washington, DC and Chapel Hill, NC. If anyone's been paying attention to the weather here, you probably know that the entire east coast has been getting slammed by the wrath of Hurricane Irene. Well, on that particular trip we had our run-in with it. We drove for several hours through high winds and rain. On one particular stretch of road (I-85) trees we're falling all around us. We watched a tree fall on top of a pick up truck, and then when a police officer pulled up behind the truck to help out, we saw another tree fall and crush the cop car. It was pretty intense. At one point, we stopped to use the restrooms at a rest stop, however the bathrooms were closed because of a power outage. So, we were forced to use outdoor port-o-potties...which seemed like an okay idea until one of them started blowing away with Chris Kehoe (our bassist) inside of it. Luckily, both bands made it through the dangerous weather and made it to the show on time.
