Album Review: The Summer Set - Everything's Fine

It’s July, and summer’s here. People want a few things from summertime, such as: time with friends, exciting adventures, and fun summer music. The Summer Set’s new album, 'Everything’s Fine' is a classic example of great summer music, and listeners will find themselves singing the songs long after the record stops.

'Everything’s Fine' is a sonic journey through heaps of infectious melodies, sweeping choruses, and super shiny production. ‘When We Were Young’ features some synth to up the ambiance and a brilliantly orchestrated chorus that will stick with listeners for days. ‘Someone Like You’ is a bouncy pop number that uses the less is more approach. Minimal guitars, a little percussion and some great vocals add up to a key track on the album. Other standouts include ‘Back To The Start’, ‘Mannequin’ and ‘Begin Again’.

The biggest criticism that this listener has to make about 'Everything’s Fine' is echoed in the title; this is a record that is perfectly pleasant, but isn’t a revelation in many regards. It’s a great summer album, but lacks punch on some of the other tracks.

Whether listeners are looking for a great track to share with a friend, a soundtrack to a road trip, or an exciting summer tune, 'Everything’s Fine' has it all. The Summer Set have crafted an album that will appeal to many, and will get listeners through until the fall rolls around.
