Alter The Press: Why should Alter The Press! readers check you out?
Prom Night In Black and White: We are your new favourite band! We are the gap between pop rock music and the heavy pop punk genre. You will be singing along to catchy choruses, and then moshing your brains out to heavy breakdowns. Oh, and we even have a sweep tapping solo. We have a party happy live show, and we tour non stop. So chances are you will hear of us coming to you town or city soon enough.
ATP: What's the story behind the band?
Prom Night In Black and White: Prom Night was started in late 2007 as Joels' acoustic project when he was only 16 years old. It then grew into a full band. We got a good online buzz after recording our first single, and that won us the chance to play at Vans' Warped Tour on select dates. After that, we started to tour Canada and grow our following. We then recorded our first EP entitled "This Sinking Ship" with our single "Flaws In Her Words" which landed us the number 1 spot on purevolume.com and allowed us the chance to play Vans' Warped Tour again on select dates. After that, in 2009, we continued to tour and recorded our second, heavier EP called "Before I Drown". We recently recorded a brand new single called "New Homes". That also landed us the number 1 spot on Purevolume.com and you can get it for free download on our Purevolume.
ATP: Single highlight as a band so far?
Prom Night In Black and White: There has been a lot of great moments as a band, as amazing as Vans' Warped Tour was, it was more of a chance to gain new fans then anything else. But the best highlight would have to be playing SharksFest in Kamloops Canada. There was at least 300 kids there, and they knew the words to all of our songs, screamed along to our entire set as well as moshed out to every breakdown. We have played to bigger crowds in our hometown of Saskatoon, but something about the energy of that show, and knowing we where so far from home made it amazing.
ATP: What are your plans for the 12 months?
Prom Night In Black and White: We currently are in the midst of booking another cross Canada tour for July and August, as well multiple mini tours leading up to that. We are also writing very hard so that we can finish a full length. We then are going to being recording our full length. We also have plans to begin touring in the United States.
