Alter The Press! Presents: Calais
Whilst it is early days for Calais, they are already gaining much praise especially with their new single, 'Don't Panic' sensible sweet slice of indie rock with layered melodies, with a good balance between pop and rock. With further material and more shows in the pipeline, this is only just the beginning for Calais.
For Fans Of: One Night Only, One Republic, and The Killers.
Alter The Press: Why should Alter The Press! readers check you out?
Calais: We are 5 lads making music that we love, so far the reaction to it has been great, hardly any bad words, so on those odds I think the ATP readers may enjoy what they hear, heres hoping.
ATP: What's the story behind the band?
Calais: We all played in bands before this project, but I don't think any of us where completely happy with the type of music the bands were writing. So we got together, started writing and practicing and found that what we were writing was the type of music we all really wanted to do since joining a band. So we got ourselves into the studio and started playing live shows!
ATP: Single highlight as a band so far?
Calais: Our first show was at Islington Acadmeny 2, alhough we always seem to have technical problems at this venue, playing a first show to a sold out crowd made up for it, also our second show we headlined in Birmingham. We did not expect the response we got at all, so that is defiantly a highlight.
ATP: What are your plans for the 12 months?
Calais: We are constantly writing and practicing at the moment, we have a lovely practice place in a barn which can be seen in our updates on Youtube. Its a great place to get creative. We have a few free downloads coming out with videos to accompany them over the next few months. For the rest of the year, hopefully we will be on the road showing off these songs we are working so hard on.
