Alter The Press: Why should Alter The Press! readers check you out?
Late In The Playoffs: Dear Alter The Press Readers. You should check out us, Late in the Playoffs, simply because we are reinventing the wheel. With influences such as The Get Up Kids, Hot Rod Circuit, and Hey Mercedes, we are bringing back a sound that many people learned to love and adore. A mix of catchy guitar riffs, a heart pounding rhythm section, and our anthem-like choruses will surely be spinning in your cerebral record players. We also don't wear V-necks.
ATP: What's the story behind the band?
LITP: Late in the Playoffs started in the summer of 2010 when songwriter Aaron Goldschmidt sought out musicians to fill out his bare bones acoustic songs leftover from a previous project. After going through a few changes in the band, Dan Schein, Christian Ray, and Joe Gallagher solidified the group. While in the studio recording demos, the band finally decided on the name Late in the Playoffs. The name was originally a criticism of a former band member, Conor, whom looked like he was participating in the hockey playoff tradition by not shaving off his beard.
ATP: Single highlight as a band so far?
LITP: When we moved into our new practice space and got to work, I finally was able to step back listen to what we were creating. Seeing new faces dancing to these songs we're so proud of is really a great feeling, and has yet to be topped by anything. We're always looking for a new thrill and are so excited to get our songs into the hands of anyone who will listen.
ATP: What are your plans for the 12 months?
LITP: Over the next year, we have a lot of plans. We are releasing our debut EP at the beginning of the summer, and couldn't be more excited. Following that, we want to push ourselves as hard as we can to get on the road and get our music into as many hands and ears as possible. We find ourselves writing constantly, and can't wait to follow our EP with a full length record out by this time next year.
Late In The Playoffs' debut EP is set to be released in May.
