Alter The Press! Presents: Hearts and Souls
Though it maybe early days for the four-piece, the bands new refreshed approach for their craft is welcomed. While their influences are listed from the likes of The Dangerous Summer, Jimmy Eat World and Angels and Airwaves, which gives them more attraction. 'There's Something About Francis' on its own gives the band plenty of promise.
Alter The Press: Why should Alter The Press! readers check you out?
Hearts and Sounds: We're a really new band on the scene, we're creating new sounds, and are really excited to start playing shows. So why not give us a first chance?
ATP: What's the story behind the band?
H&S: Well we've all been in previous bands (This City Sleeps, District 6 etc) and for whatever reasons we're not in them before, and Hearts & Souls was the start of a bedroom project that's been brought to life over the past few months. I (Lucinda, Vocals/Bass) started just writing songs that I couldn't use in This City Sleeps, and then in late august early november I started jamming with Conor (Drummer) and then brought in guitarist (Andy) and our aims were just to try something different. We wanted to mix a lot of different sounds together, and try to create big noises as well as having strong songs that people can sing along to, so far we've been pretty experimental in what we do, but I'm sure as time goes on we'll find a solid sound.
ATP: Single highlight as a band so far?
H&S: So far definitely going into the studio and recording the tracks, but yesterday we launched our new website and had a massive response to our new tracks, bigger then we thought so we were really happy about it. The fact that we're also releasing our debut single and a b-side on tape seemed like it could possibly put people off, but we've limited it to just 100 copies and the tapes will all be hand painted, with a digital download code inside so people are actually going to get something for their money. We're a very DIY band, and we like to make things a little more personal.
ATP: What are your plans for the 12 months?
H&S: Our plans for the next 12 months involve playing our first handful of shows around the UK, we have shows with bands such as Jody Has A Hitlist and The Rookie League, we're hoping to make a music video, record a little more, and tour in the summer.
'There's Something About Francis' by Hearts and Souls is released on the March 14th worldwide digitally and on tape (limited to 100 copies with a b-side 'Honest') which you can pre order now from heartsandsouls.bigcartel.com
