Alter The Press! Presents: The Young International
Nevertheless the band also show a sensible calmer side, as tracks like 'Gravity' shows their ability to highlight their songwriting prowess. Despite their favourable pop sound, working with the likes of Vance Powell (Jack White, The Raconteurs, The Dead Weather), to an extent, adds a touch of class and a mature approach to their pop-rock sound. As overall The Young International are a group that has the right of balance between rock and pop sensibilities.
For Fans Of: The Killers, Phantom Planet, and Kings of Leon.
Alter The Press: Why should Alter The Press! readers check you out?
The Young International: The Young International will be your new favorite band. We write fresh, exciting music that actually means something. Our songs are stories and snapshots of life that we so often find ourselves in and our passion is giving life to those songs performing.
ATP: What's the story behind the band?
TYI: The Young International is a songwriter, a producer, a designer and a gypsy from Nashville, TN. We make pop rock music.
We grew up together, literally and musically, listening to bands like Radiohead, Coldplay and Phantom Planet. We have always been like family, even while playing in different projects over the years. The four of us always had great chemistry but we really hit our stride working on this record.
Now we live together in Nashville and our house doubles as Paper Swan Studios. It's where we write, record, film, design, practice and everything in between. It's our music factory.
ATP: Single highlight as a band so far?
TYI: The highlight thus far has to be working on our EP, which is set to release February 1st. The process was incredible from start to finish. Getting to work with Grammy Award winners Mitch Dane (Jars of Clay), Vance Powell (Jack White, The Raconteurs, The Dead Weather) and Nathan Dantzler, has taught us so much about crafting songs and capturing them in the studio.
ATP: What are your plans for the 12 months?
TYI: We will be writing new music constantly. The release of our EP is only the beginning. We are so lucky to have all the tools we need to create and record music here in Nashville and we plan on using them to their full potential. Expect much more music and video content following our EP.
We will be bringing this new material on the road with us throughout the summer months. Be on the lookout for tour dates later this spring.
'The Young International' EP by The Young International is released on February 1st.
