ATP: What's the story behind the band?
TES: We have all been friends for a long time and used to play in a band together called Semester Abroad. After that band broke up, our drummer Mark and I joined Brighterside and did that for a little while. After we left Brighterside we decided to start writing together and it went really well. We're all very capable of working hard but we're also all very good friends which is important in any band. And that's what we wanted to do with The Empire State, have a serious band with our best friends in the world.
ATP: Single highlight as a band so far?
TES: Over the summer we played on the Vans Warped Tour. That was a ton of fun and we look forward to possibly doing it again next summer.
ATP: What are your plans for the 12 months?
TES: We're in the studio right now with Brad McCarthy(A Rocket To The Moon/View From an Airplane) recording a couple songs. After that is finished we'll be flying out to LA to co-write with David Cook of My Favorite Highway. Then over the summer we'll be recording again with John Naclerio(Brand New, My Chemical Romance) and touring full time after that.
