Since forming in 2009, Newcastle's Boy Jumps Ship have played with the likes of The Futureheads, The Ghost Of A Thousand and Maximo Park, as well having a sold-out headline show in their hometown's 02 Academy. 2010 saw the band release a self-titled album while see the band grow even more, with an exuberant new EP called 'Engines'; four tracks of well-crafted and pulled off alternative rock which sees the four-piece be compared to the likes of Taking Back Sunday and Twin Atlantic.

With a new EP and plans for more shows; including one supporting up and comers Francesqa as well as plans to record more material, expect to hear more from Boy Jumps Ship in 2011.

For Fans Of: Twin Atlantic, Taking Back Sunday and Alexisonfire.

Alter The Press: Why should Alter The Press! readers check you out?
Boy Jumps Ship: We are an exciting new band with something to say. We constantly push ourselves to progress and write the best songs we can. Being able to share our music and experiences with as many people possible is a massive incentive for us.

ATP: What's the story behind the band?
BJS: We have known each other personally for many years, either through college or other bands. An opportunity arose for us to play together and form a band so we jumped at the chance! Since then we have taken things step by step. We are firm believers in progression and believe every step we take is to benefit the band and what we believe in. Whether this means working to create an exciting live show to satisfy our fans, or tweaking new tunes to perfection, irrespective of how long it takes.

ATP: Single highlight as a band so far?
BJS: I think we'd all agree that headlining a sold-out show at Newcastle's O2 Academy would definitely be the single highlight of the band so far. We played to nearly 400 people in November 2010 to preview our new EP "Engines". The night was a great success!

ATP: What are your plans for the 12 months?
BJS: Our new EP "Engines" is internationally released on January 24th, it will be available digitally and physically. Positive reviews have already come from well established press such as Rocksound and Front Magazine, along with being named by Rocksound as a one to watch in 2011. We hope to get the exposure we have been working towards and head off on tour around the UK and Europe, along with some festivals in the summer. Writing has also already began for the album, something we aim to record at the back end of 2011.

'Engines' by Boy Jumps Ship is released on January 24th.
