Album Review: Caravels - Caravels EP

Being a fan of the band for some time now, I am stoked that Caravels has been added to the Topshelf Records roster. Caravels is a dynamic post-hardcore outfit from Las Vegas, NV, and they are looking to become your new favorite band. I’m confident that their new 2 song EP entitled ‘Caravels’ is all the convincing that it will take.

‘Caravels’ EP is a force to be reckoned with. Lead track “Dream Beaver” is an extremely solid track with plenty of great guitar, drums, and time signature changes to please any fan very technical music. This track kept me coming back over and over. “Girth Impression” is the other track on the EP, and while it’s a little more straightforward, it’s no less impressive; Shouted vocals and plenty of melodic hardcore moves into a much lighter bridge that will be stuck in listeners’ heads for days.

If the ‘Caravels’ EP is any indication, 2011 will be a big year for Caravels. I can say that I’m definitely looking forward to a full length from these guys. The EP is streaming right here on ATP!, so make sure that you go check these guys out. It will be the best thing you’ve done all day.
