Alter The Press! Presents: Societys Plague
Their début album, 'The Human, The Canvas' is a fierce and epic beast of a record, with tracks like 'Transcend the Throne' providing a mix spiralling riffs and melodic vocals. It is everything you want from a metal record; an aggressive metalcore style that is well-structured and breathes life into the genre. In addition the band have joined up with Stand And Deliver Records, which has the potential to spread the bands message even further.
For Fans Of: In Flames, Bullet For My Valentine and Killswitch Engage.
Alter The Press: Why should Alter The Press! readers check you out?
Societys Plague: We do pull a lot of influence’s from bands outside of the United States such as: Soilwork, Scar Symmetry, and Bullet For My Valentine which makes for a great reason why the Alter The Press readers should check us out.
We also love to talk to all our fans, we recently set up an xbox live meet and greet with fans so they can get online play some video games and hang out with us! We also have some new merchandise ready to come out along with some free download cards that we are working on sending to our fans outside of the United States, and a new tour.
ATP: What's the story behind the band?
SP: We started off as a bunch of kids from Kentucky with a passion for music. When we first started playing shows we only did local shows but we were getting some huge local crowds showing up and that was when we decided to start moving forward full time with Societys Plague.
In 2009 we released our debut EP “The Mercy Untold” and our regional recognition started escalating. We have a vigorous live performance which has helped Societys Plague to set up several regional tours, and play with, In Flames, Killswitch Engage, Unearth and Chimaira and many more.
For most of us this is our first band, we literally were a garage band who outgrew the garage we were in, and now we are playing national stages around the USA, and hoping to tour Canada and the UK in 2011.
ATP: Single highlight as a band so far?
SP: There are so many it's hard to pick just one.
I personally would say it was our first hometown show after the release of our album "The Human, The Canvas" there were so many people there to support us it was amazing. At our CD release show we saw a lot of new and old faces there, it really reminded us why we wanted to play music in the first place. All those friends and fans out there really made it special for us.
On top of our hometown show, we are on 37 radio stations, have designs on Ding Life, were featured in Hails and Horns Magazine, are part of “Sounds to Destroy the Masses Compilation” and are being added to The Rock Band Network soon.
ATP: What are your plans for the 12 months?
SP: We are setting up tons of tours and looking to hit the West Coast of the United States and Canada in the next 12 months, we would also love to come to the UK and come see all our fans out there too.
