Alter The Press! Presents: Vietwow!

Vietwow! is the new project of Sam Manville (Ex-Blakfish) and Tobias Hayes (Ex-Meet Me In St. Louis), and along with Bob D’Melloa (Ex-Super Tennis) and Alex Weizak (Youves), sees the quartet their affection for Weezer and The Pixies come to life. As Vietwow! takes that influence and mix it with a favourable DIY approach, as forthcoming double A-side single, 'If You Ever Leave Me Then I'll Fucking Kill You'/'Hole In The Head', shows; lo-fi pop mixed with a reasonable indie touch.

However as the following interview and video shows, Vietwow! isn't an all together serious project.

Alter The Press: Why should Alter The Press! readers check you out?
Vietwow: Well Alex looks good with his top off, Toby has been known to grow a very impressive beard, Bob's urban vocabulary is second to none and I'll (Sam) give you my cat if you ask nicely enough.

ATP: What's the story behind the band?
Vietwow: I've been a huge fan of Weezer and The Pixies for a long time, I e-mailed both Rivers (Cuomo) and Frank (Black) and struck up friendships with them over the following years. After introducing them to each other one June evening in a hotel bar in Las Vegas, they decided that they would write some songs together, and that I would be in charge of forming the band to perform them live. A few months later they sent me the recordings, and I got busy contacting people I knew to be fans of either of their bands. It just so happened that Bob, Toby and Alex were all fans, and Rivers and Frank were offering a handsome sum of cash.

ATP: Single highlight as a band so far?
Vietwow: Getting fresh at a campsite in Redditch and realising that we are most definitely "STILL GOSH"

ATP: What are your plans for the 12 months?
Vietwow: We've got some shows to promote the debut double A-Side that's out at the end of November and Frank and Rivers have mentioned they will be doing an EP, or maybe an album at some point in 2011.

'If You Ever Leave Me Then I'll Fucking Kill You'/'Hole In The Head' is released on November 22nd through Idle Hands.
