Alter The Press! Presents: Cav OK
Cav OK are so diverse in their influences that it doesn't matter what type of music you listen to, the chances are you'll enjoy them. They have found a way to mix electro infused indie rock with emo tendancies and raw attitude. Sounds like a recipe for disaster but somehow Cav OK have managed to take a little bit of everything, thrown it into the mix and managed to create a sound that is the perfect concoction and balance. Cav OK are explosive live and well worth checking out. One to definitely keep an eye on.
For Fans Of: Bloc Party, Cajun Dance Party, Joy Division.
Interview with Damian Tyler:
Alter The Press: Why should Alter The Press! readers check you out?
Cav OK: Our music is extremely emotive, we try and convey emotion in all our songs. We don't focus on situations but more the way that everyday situations make us feel and affect us. We're brutally honest about it and we don't try and dress it up as something it's not. I think people tend to find that refreshing. So many bands these days are style over substance and too cool for school. We're all for style but if there's no real substance people will see through it eventually. Musically we cross many influences; we all have a very different idea of what makes a song work but that's what makes us work. We try and make music that people can't ignore, even if it's not their thing, it's aggressive but not angry.
ATP: What's the story behind the band?
Cav OK: Ben and I are brothers and Barry may as well be our brother. we've been making music together for years, together and apart. Cav Ok started about 4 years ago. We auditioned so many drummers and bass players, it was really hard work trying to find people who could play well and that we clicked with too. Paul and Scott had both been in successful bands, and we'd known them so it was great when they came on board. We're all like family now.
ATP: Single highlight as a band so far?
Cav OK: So many it's hard to say really, we've supported signed bands and we've played to big crowds at festivals which is great but we buzz more off the connection with the audience than anything else. Playing a busy intimate venue with a crowd who want to hear you and are just a few feet away is an amazing feeling.
ATP: What are your plans for the 12 months?
Cav OK: We've just finished recording and we'll be releasing a New EP in Setember, we'll be doing an EP Launch(Venue and Date TBC) and then we'll be following it up with a mini tour. We love playing live so we'll be booking up all over and just playing as often as we can, we're lucky to be working with some great promoters who are really pushing us. We're also about to start filming our first music video.
