Album Review: Beatsteaks - Limbo Messiah
The bands ability to shake it up a little is seen throughout, from the punk rock-esque 'Sharp, Cool & Collected' and 'Bad Brain' to summery indie rock of 'Meantime'. Whilst Cut Off The Top' offers a chilled out, swaying number which wouldn't sound out of place at a beach party.
It is a credit to the band for their ability to change from one style to the next nearly seamlessly. It's clear that their experience has been put to good use on 'Limbo Messiah', which leaves us with an approachable record. However it's not perfect, 'She Was Great' somewhat spoils the albums tempo and the bands whole rock 'n' roll style becomes tiresome towards the later stages of the record.
Nevertheless there is enough here to keep you interested; steady guitars, singalong choruses and thriving drums are heard throughout. Although this isn't apparent at first, as the bands variation can be difficult to adjust to. However once the bands sound and direction is understood, you're left with a record that is appreciative.
