Album Review: Blitz Kids - Scavengers EP

Blitz Kids have been getting quite a bit of hype in recent months, for example their last EP ('Decisions') was given a five out of five review on this very site. With 'Scavengers EP' the hype is highly likely to continue, as the bands dark pop-rock style is favourable from start to finish. As they portray a finely tuned mix of intriguing musicianships and soaring, powerful harmonies.

'Sell Yourself' stomps and swaggers its ways in from the start with its Lostprophets-esque tone, although it is one that is more upbeat and much better than the latter have done recently.

Next 'Maybe We'll Die' keeps up the momentum; superb harmonies with plenty of attitude and bite. Whilst EP highlight comes in the form of 'In Each Others Eyes', with its instantly memorable and very favourable chorus. Most credit for this has to be given to vocalist Joe James, who's delivery is exceptional and takes centre stage. Nonetheless the bands thriving and anthemic style tops off the track.

'Answers In Monaco' and 'Raise Your Glass' end the EP well, with the band once again showing off creative musical ideas that are subtle and hidden underneath, a friendly, accessible exterior. One that is interesting and somewhat to fully understand on first listen, but like this EP as a whole, you warm to it and begin to like it.

'Scavengers EP' firmly puts Blitz Kids in the bracket of potential break out stars along with the likes of Futures and Kids In Glass Houses, as they have the tunes and melodies to back up the hype but they equally keep it refreshing and original.
