Album Review: Young & Divine - Young & Divine EP
Opening song, ‘Bonus Track’ is a great opener, it sort of sounds like All Time Low, but a lot more refined and leads well into the lead single from the EP, ‘Shake That Bubble’ which is an absolutely massive tune, really radio friendly, pop at it’s very best.
The pace is slowed down for the remainder of the EP though. ‘Weakdays’ lives up to its title, it’s boring and forgettable with a fairly annoying hook and 'Strangers By Day', although an improvement on the previous song is still kinds of pedestrian compared to the first two songs, although it does have a nice chorus.
EP closer ‘Show Me You’re Alive’ is a different affair altogether, some might say it’s boring as an ending song for a debut EP but it does it’s job of showing the kind of variety this band is capable of, it is slowed down and more of a “love song” but that doesn’t make it bad, just badly placed in the track listing.
All in all, this is a good debut, it’ll be interesting to see how Young&Divine handle a full length release though. Oh and readers in America, listen out for ‘Shake That Bubble’ hitting the radio soon, because it could blow this band up something huge.
