Album Review: Through Color - Dream In Black And White

Anglesey, North Wales 5-piece Through Color manage to show plenty of potential with their somewhat favourable mini-album, 'Dream In Black And White'. Although they do bring a sense of predictability. Tracks like 'All Singing, All Dancing Baby' and 'Headlights and Halo's' have that generic youthful pop-rock tone, similar to that of The Blackout's more favourable material, with the latter having the nearly "emo" chorus line of "we'll dance with angels tonight, in the shadows, under the moonlight".

Whilst 'Kids With Cancer" has plenty of punch and momentum, that is followed up by 'Raise Your Glass" nicely, as the band definitely know how to write hooks and have them at the right time. On top of this, the bands tight-knit, rocky guitars manages to avoid them becoming another light rock band with pop-like hooks.

By the time you get to 'Sunsets' you basically know what you're going to get from Through Colour. Although this isn't a bad thing, as on the whole 'Dream In Black And White' shows potential for a band, who have the capability to make a name for themselves. If guitar-driven melodies with infectious lyrics, then Through Colour are worth checking out.
