Album Review: More In Sorrow - Something Borrowed, Something Blue

Chicago's More In Sorrow get off to an impressive start with 'Little Stone', with a sound that's reminiscent of Brand New; passionate vocals taking over steady pace guitars.

'Bed Of Nails' and 'October Second' are also worth giving a listen, with their favourable post-hardcore sound that is clearly influenced by the likes of Thursday and Taking Back Sunday. It shows they are a tight-knit unit, with some good ideas.

For those who want a more aggressive sound, 'See It Blind', 'End Of Ages' and 'Wolves' will make up for this, as deafening screams are blended in well with the bands sensible melodies.

Elsewhere 'Hide And Seek' and 'Forked Tongue' keep up the albums flow but are mostly forgettable, as the album starts to die off.

'Something Borrowed, Something Blue' could definitely be classed as a "grower", as their progressive post-hardcore style is intriguing and has enough depth to keep you listening. More In Sorrow could be on to a good thing (and maybe a name change could be a start), perhaps one band worth keeping an eye as they could develop into something more, as this debut release shows they have the right ideas and the craftsmanship to make decent songs.
