Thrice Guitarist Will Not Be On UK Tour

Thrice lead guitarist, Teppei Teranishi will not be appearing on the band's forthcoming UK tour due to the recent loss of his mother.

Teppi made the following statement:

"I regretfully won’t be able to make it to the UK with the rest of the band for this upcoming run. As most of you who keep up with us know, I had to fly home for a few days during our last headline run due to a “family emergency”. I guess I never actually explained what was going on…my mom was diagnosed with stage IV cancer in September and her condition took a turn for the worse during the tail end of that tour. Since then, her condition continued to decline and she had been living in our house with my wife and two kids, receiving hospice care for the last month or so. She finally passed away several days ago which is why I won’t be able to leave for the tour. There’s a whole lot of things involved in wrapping up a person’s life, not to mention I really need to be here for my family, especially my kids, who lost their beloved “baba”.

It has been an absolutely insane couple months for my family and I, but I’m glad that we were able to be there 100% for my mother and that she was able to leave this world surrounded by security and love. She was the single most important person of my life and played an integral role in my kids’ lives as well. It’s incredibly unfortunate that our time with her in this life has been cut short, but I know that she is in a much better place now and I take great comfort in that.

Thank you all very much for showing your love and support when I had to step out of the tour a couple months ago. I showed my mom all the prayers and well wishes left on the comments and it actually made her well up. I’ll be back with the guys after this tour. Oh, and our good friend Nate from The Dear Hunter will be stepping in (again) for me, this time for the whole set. A HUGE thanks to him for stepping up to the plate again. What a guy! Thanks again everyone, and I’ll see you all again soon.

I love you mom.
Teppei"
