Album Review: Push Push Pull - Dressed For Success EP
Elsewhere tracks like 'Music Will Save Us' is similar to the latter, in fact its very much in the same vain. It's simple and rather accessible. Whereas 'Wake Up' sees the band becoming more favourable and more poppy, with subtle synths underneath a calm, pleasant lead vocal delivery. When combined the track proves to be the highlight of the EP.
Next is the title track ('Dressed for Success'), a rockier number with deep guitars and hint of angst in the vocals. However the bands lighter side manages to dominate the track.
Its not surprising that the band decide to close on a soft, acoustic number ('Take Me Back'). Its even more surprising that the track is impressive and to an extent, charming with a nice, sweet pop chorus that wins you over instantly. On the whole, it leaves you smiling pleasantly.
Push Push Pull will please those who are fans of accessible, friendly pop-rock with sweet production, with a slight edge to their sound. Like so many bands in the genre, they're not aiming at pushing any boundaries. They just seem to know these boundaries, and basically stick to them. 'Dressed For Success' has its moments but as a whole, its rather poor and predictable.
