Far-less Blog about Hiatus

Jordan from Far-less have posted a blog about the bands recent decision to go on hiatus and the current state of the music industry.

"We just got back to Radford from a run of dates that only reaffirmed our decision that putting Far-Less to rest is the right, and only thing to do. I will spare you all of the details other than out of the five shows that were booked by an agency, three were cancelled. We were left hanging in the northeast with no shows, no money and no morale. I just want to assure the few of you who were planning on coming to any of the shows that were cancelled that Far-Less had nothing to do with any of it. We tried our best to find anywhere we could to play when the shows were cancelled.

That being said, we will not be continuing our tour with abandon kansas. We simply cannot trust that our needs will be met. When a band leaves for a tour and contracts haven't been signed (although the agent assures you that they have) and venues are cancelling shows left and right, what are you supposed to do? We want to encourage everyone to please go and watch abandon kansas and support them especially now that they are going at this alone. They are a great band and wonderful guys and we wish them all the best.

I really haven't gotten to speak my mind about much and again, I won't go into details, but I do feel compelled to tell you all this. Far-Less love each other, love the music we make together and love our fans and supporters from the bottom of our hearts. The sad reality is however that our fans and supporters are just too few and far between for us to be able to continue this uphill battle as is. We've always prided ourselves on doing something different however this isn't a musical society where much of anything aside from trendy bullshit is accepted. Sure there are amazing, successful, original bands out there, but they are few and far between. To say I am not jaded would be a lie. To say that I am fond of this industry would be a lie as well. But to say that I love making music for appreciative people and always want to continue to do so is about as much truth as I am capable of. I know I speak for everyone in Far-Less when I say that.

So I am gonna leave you will a few things. First off, if you ever loved this band; if our songs ever meant something to you in a real way and you can do it; come to our final show on August 14th in Greensboro, NC. We are going to do everything we can to make it a night to remember. Secondly, please support our new projects. I am joining House of Fools and B Welch, Hackler and Tyler are going to be starting a new band like we've mentioned. Hell, I am sure Brian will be making some ear candy too. And lastly. If you care about real music, do what you can to support it. Bands are falling apart from the inside out because this industry does very little to support art and very much to support bankrolls. People who care about music have to help or I am afraid many of the bands and artists that we all love are going to fall prey to the exact same thing that has happened to far-less.

I really hope this doesn't all sound too melodramatic....its just how I feel right now and I needed to get it off my chest.

Thank all of you who ever gave a damn about my band. I love you.
