Album Review: Without Thought - Get Down and Give Me Infinity

Guildford's Without Thought new album, 'Get Down and Give Me Infinity' has all the requirements you'd would want from a melodic hardcore band; heavy riffs, crunching drums, screaming vocals, breakdowns and the occasional catchy hook.

Opener 'Standing On The Edge' eases in before crashing through your ear drums with all the aforementioned characteristics. The track quickly defines what the band are all about. While 'With Any Arms' is an aggressive and raw with a chorus that is memorable and with a great melody.

Throughout the album, the band swing from deep hard riffs to melodic, light vocals that please the ear. 'Recovery' and 'The Krunch' is a good example of this, with the latter reminding me of Funeral For A Friend.

In addition to this their musicianship is shown well, with 'Regretamine' showing a tight, complex performance and strong structure. Whilst the closing track 'There's Knowing It... And Then There's Feeling It', has that concluding sound, that ideally rounds off the record well.

However at times, it sounds like its all been done before but you also feel Without Thought do it well, if not better. There is something about 'Get Down and Give Me Infinity' that keeps you listening again and again. Maybe it’s the bands deep, edgier music or the emotionally-driven vocals or perhaps; and most likely, their ability to combine both.

Without Thought on first listen might sound like something you've heard before but underneath there is awhole load of promise and potential.
