Thrice Studio Update

Thrice have began tracking their first song for their new album.

"We started tracking the first song today. I guess you can call it sort of a preliminary tracking. Depending on how this turns out, it can be an album keeper or not. We’ll really get into the swing of things once Bamboozle is done.

We also seemed to have brought some bad voodoo along with our revamp of the space. First off, my tape machine died (anyone know where I can get a replacement capstan motor for a Tascam 388?), one of the preamps was acting funny, then our trusty computer that has been running like a tank decided it didn’t want to start up (but that seems to have been fixed). But the biggest snag we hit was that our drum tracks mysteriously weren’t sounding as good as they were last night when we threw down a couple bars of Riley playing, just to hear the new room. Nothing changed, but the tracks today were clearly not sounding as good. Blah. Recording can be so fickle. I nearly lost my mind but we got it sounding great in the end. Looks like we’ve got the drums in the can. Onto bass and guitars tomorrow. Oh, and we’re hoping to track a lot of this live in the end. We have some ideas to make it work in our little studio.
