Win a chance for Fightstar to play at your school!

MySpace, the world’s premier social network, is giving 14-18 year olds a once in a lifetime chance to host a school party with some of the biggest names in the music industry with a nationwide competition - School Invasions.

From today, students are invited to visit the School Invasions profile at www.myspace.com/schoolinvasions to enter their school in the competition. The prize includes an all-expenses paid party with appearances from Kate Nash, The Wombats, DJ Ironik and Fightstar. The school that receives the most votes on the profile will host the event.

As well as winning their own exclusive party, the school will receive £10,000 worth of music equipment and a music masterclass with an established band. As part of the workshop, the band will share tales of how they got started and offer tips and advice about getting into the music industry.

This announcement follows the recent success of the MySpace Bus at the Underage Festival in Victoria Park, London, where top acts played intimate gigs for 14-18 yr old fans.

Dom Cook, Head of Entertainment at MySpace UK, said: “We recognise that under-18s are passionate about music and use MySpace on a daily basis to connect with and discover great artists and bands. We want to give something back to this dedicated community of young fans by encouraging them to learn more about music in school, while also giving them the party of a lifetime.”
